We’re on a mission to change industrial dyeing into an environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and economically viable process.
Our commitment is to pioneer holistic solutions in every decision we make — from our technology and business model, to how we care for our employees and communicate with the world around us. Every tiny detail matters.
Our Manifesto
Nature is a teacher when it comes to sustainability. By following its own circular model, we are able to access nature‘s colours for the global dyeing industry without ever harming a living organism or taking from the world around us.
But to be truly impactful, our offering must be sustainable on an environmental, financial, and social level.
We promise to maintain this commitment to a holistic solution in every decision we make— from our technology and business model, to how we care for our employees and communicate with the world around us.
— Jim Ajioka and Orr Yarkoni, Founders of Colorifix
An environmentally-friendly mission
Industrial textile dyeing consumes massive amounts of water, energy and has an enormous carbon footprint. It is one of the most chemically intensive industries on earth and one of the largest polluters of increasingly scarce freshwater. The industry uses over 70 toxic chemicals in the dyeing process – these are contained in the dyes and the auxiliary chemicals that adhere the dyes to surfaces. Essentially, the traditional way we process and dye our textiles is poisoning our people and the planet.
It’s time for that to change.
Our technology eliminates the use of any harmful substances, but we want to go beyond that. That’s why we measure our overall environmental impact from the process to monitor and improve it at every stage. Our latest third party LCA showed significant improvement in water and energy use. This is important, not only because it gives our customers further incentives but it allows us to monitor our process and optimise to ensure constant improvement.

Our impact figures above, belong to our latest third-party verified life cycle assessment performed for two different dyeing processes: conventional and Colorifix®. The study included the two stages: dyeing and final washes, performed on 1 Kg of knit jersey 52% recycled cotton 48% recycled polyester.
A socially-responsible mission
Humans are part of our precious ecosystem too. If, in generating our radical new environmentally-friendly approach to colour, we leave a trail of social destruction in our wake, we replace one problem with another. We’re not here to destroy livelihoods and put jobs at risk with our solution. So at the heart of our ethos is creating solutions that don’t disrupt existing businesses but add to their portfolio of know-how and help train existing staff in cutting edge fermentation technology - a highly transferable (and valuable) skillset. That’s why we designed all of our processes so that they could leverage existing infrastructure and technologies in the mills and dye houses across the world.
READ ABOUT OUR PARTNERSAn economically-viable process
We believe that one of the best ways of supporting uptake of this planet-protective process is if we can make it economically viable for businesses through the dyeing supply chain. That’s why we are working tirelessly to be able to offer our solution on parity with the existing planet-destructive market offering. While we are not there yet we are getting closer and will continue to be transparent and supportive of all our partners along the way so that we can take away any last barriers to cracking these important challenges, together.
